A rotary/tilting cutter, i.e. a cutter rotatable about the pocket joint formed by cutter and cutter pocket, is given an additional advantageous fixed seat in the cutter pocket by additional bearing edges being created between cutter and cutter pocket. To this end, the cutter, in particular the cutter shank, is designed so as to engage in the cutter pocket in a hook-shaped and tapered manner, the bearing edges being formed with either the cutter pocket or the wedge mechanism. The correct positioning of the cutter in the cutter pocket is here at the same time assisted in particular in the corresponding design with the wedge mechanism, since the cutter, by actuation of the wedge mechanism, can at the same time also be drawn into the cutter pocket and restrained therein. <IMAGE>
