For the loading of article carriers (Wt) with articles (W) made ready in supply magazines (V) along a belt conveyor (B), the individual article carriers (Wt) are provided with codes (C), so that they can be loaded with the articles assigned to the respective code (C) as they are transported past the supply magazines (V). In machine loading, the individual articles (W) must then also reliably reach the assigned article carrier. This is made possible by a path measuring device (We) which ascertains the transport path (Tw) of the article carriers (Wt) from a preset reference point.
