PURPOSE:To obtain extremely easily and quickly a round shaped edge cover having good appearance from a belt-like plate having an angle-shaped section in the stage of manufacturing said cover by forming the cover by a pair of gears which rotate while the teeth are intermeshed with each other in a specific state. CONSTITUTION:The manufacture of a round shaped edge cover B to be fitted to the outside circumferential edge of, for example, a coiled metallic strip or the like A is accomplished by meshing one surface (b) of the belt-like plate (a) formed to an angle shape between a pair of gears which rotate while both are intermeshed with each other. The space between the dedendum circle of one gear and the dedendum circle of the other gear in the intermeshing parts of the gears 1, 2 is set larger at one end of the gear than at the other end of the gear. Then the wrinkles of the waveform shallower on the side where said space in the intermeshing part is small and deeper on the side where said space is large are formed neatly at a specified pitch on the surface (b) and the plate (a) curves to the circular arcuate shape toward the side where the space is small at the size conforming to the difference in said space. When the plate (a) is formed approximately to an annular shape, said part is disconnected and the cover is obtd. |
