A video device on a video display device, a control device and a video recorder is constructed in such a manner that, by operating the keys of a key pad, not only is a desired video input selected from several such inputs such as, VHF, UHF, VTX, on-line and one or a number of video recorders but, in addition, when a video recorder is selected, a particular selection from a plurality of individual sections recorded on the video tape of the video recorder is effected. For this purpose, this control device is equipped with a central processing unit, a control circuit and a crossbar and the video tape located in the video recorder is provided with pulse markings which represent identification codes for the individual recording sections. The video device can be accommodated in a housing consisting of a vertical hollow column and one or a number of essentially horizontal receiving pipes extending out of the hollow column which results in an information stand which can be erected at desired locations.
