The fuel control device has a fuel pump (5), a shaft (11) for controlling the fuel pump (5) and a speed governor (14), which is connected to the fuel pump by way of a control lever (15) and by way of the control shaft (11). Between the speed governor (14) and the control shaft (11) a linkage (17, 18, 19) is provided which has a balance arm (17) with three articulations (1, 2, 3). The first articulation (1) is coupled to the control lever (15), the second articulation (2) to a lever arm (16) of the control shaft (11) and the third articulation (3) to an actuating element (21). In a first operating state of the control device the actuating element holds the third articulation (3) rigidly fixed and in a second operating state releases it from the rigid fixing. In this way it is possible by simple and reliable means to isolate the speed governor from the control shaft. <IMAGE>
