The thermal insulating board consists of a board (10) of a lightweight foamed plastic with thermally insulating effect (expanded polystyrene), on which a corrugated wire mesh (14) is applied. The bond between expanded polystyrene board and wire mesh is produced by embedding the corrugation crowns a little in the bulk of the plastic. The connection is increased by a bed of mineral cement (13) along the bond seams. The boards are dowelled to the masonry wall after adhesion. The openings, too, are filled with the plaster compound during application of the thermally insulating plaster to the region of the plaster lath. Because of the good diffusion characteristics of the plaster compound, masonry dampness is dissipated. <IMAGE>
