PURPOSE:To provide titled parts which are extremely resistant to scratching and are inexpensive by plating an Ni-P alloy on external parts for timepieces formed of metals such as a stainless steel then subjecting the parts to an aging treatment then to plating of Cr and coating of TiN. CONSTITUTION:An Ni-P alloy is plated at 10-60mu on external parts for timepieces formed of metals consisting of a stainless steel, brass, german silver, etc. which are resistant to heat and are easy to plate and thereafter the parts are subjected to an aging for about 1hr-10min at 350-450 deg.C to provide about 900- 1,100Hv hardness. Cr is then plated thereon to improve corrosion resistance and thereafter TiN is coated thereon by a PVD treatment to improve resistance to scratching. The external parts for timepieces having good appearance, and excellent resistance to scratching and corrosion are obtd. at a low cost.
