PURPOSE:To increase an angle of magnetic Kerr rotation by providing the 1st layer consisting of an optomagnetic recording medium film, the 2nd layer consisting of a garnet magnetic thin film, the 3rd layer consisting of an optomagnetic medium film, and the 4th layer consisting of a protection film on a transparent substrate. CONSTITUTION:Laser light is brought under Faraday effect when transmitted through a 120Angstrom thickness GdTbFe film 2 as an optomagnetic medium layer after passing through the transparent substrate 1 made of glass, etc., as shown by arrows, and the Faraday effect is accelerated by a 1,000Angstrom thickness YIG film 3 as the following magnetic thin film layer having a large angle of Kerr rotation. The laser light is reflected by a 1,000Angstrom thickness GeTbFe film 4 as the optomagnetic medium layer and brought under Kerr effect, and the light is transmitted through the YIG film 3 again and then passed through the optomagnetic recording medium 2, so that the angle of Kerr rotation is increased. Thus, an information reproduction characteristic of the optomagnetic disk are improved. |
