PURPOSE:To detect the position and moving distance of a moving body highly accurately by setting up the position of a light source on the upper part of a photodetecting device of the moving body and constituting a photodetecting element group so as to detect light without shielding light from the light source. CONSTITUTION:The photodetecting device 1 consists of many photodetecting elements arranged at the curved inside of a semispherical case 3 and the device 1 is arranged on the moving body 6. Light 8 from the light source 7 is detected through a lens 4. The position P of a photodetecting element is found by calculating each vector LA or HA from a prescribed LH (a fixed value). The advancing direction of the moving body 6 can be determined by an angle obtained by rotating the photodetecting device 1 from a reference line. |
