PURPOSE:To generate no contamination from the outside of a sensor chip by constituting a titled cassette so that a through-hole of a cover side is shifted from a through-hole of a housing side part of a tape cassette to which the sensor chip is installed, when the tape cassette is not used. CONSTITUTION:A tape cassette 1 is constituted so that a tape 6 extended to the front opening part appears by opening a front cover 4 and a rear cover 5 when it is used, and the tape 6 is surrounded and protected from its front and rear face by closing these front cover 4 and rear cover 5 when it is not used. In this regard, this tape cassette 1 is constituted so that the winding quantity and the winding state of the tape 6 wound a round a hub can be abserved through a transparent window 16 and a transparent sheet 21.
