Data storage discs and methods of manufacturing same

A data storage disc comprises a supporting sheet 1 e.g. of glass having on a front face an annular rib 3 over which is secured a flat stretched film 7 of polymeric material. A recording layer 9 may be applied to the polymeric film 7 over an optional subbing layer 8. In a method of manufacturing such a disc, the polymeric film is secured and then heat shrunk into stretched condition.
