PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head which detects the direction and extent of a position shift from a data track by reading information on the position shift from the data track by the 1st servo core and the 2nd servo core. CONSTITUTION:The output signal of the coil 33 of a read/write head core 31 has a small amplitude unless the magnetic head is in an ideal on-track state. Further, the coil 40 of a servo head core 36 on the data track sends out an output signal. The direction of the position shift from the data track depends upon which coil of a servo head generates an output signal. Further, the extent of the position shift is known from the amplitude of the output signal of the coil of the servo head. For this purpose, the output signals of the coils of the two servo heads are monitored to detect the direction and extent of the position shift from the data track. |
