PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive structural member of metal, synthetic resin or the like protected from fouling with aquatic animals and plants by coating a structural member with a Cu alloy having resistance to soil with organisms and contg. a specified amount of Ni. CONSTITUTION:A part or the whole of the surface of a structural member of a metal, synthetic resin or the like is coated with a Cu alloy having resistance to soil with organisms and consisting of 2.0-12.0wt% Ni and the balance Cu. The Cu alloy may further contain <=1.0wt% each of Fe and/or Mn. When the coated structural member is used in contact with sea water, river water, sewage or the like, the member is hardly fouled with aquatic animals and plants such as shellfishes and seaweeds, and it has corrosion resistance.
