PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium having excellent adhesion, lubricity and wear resistance by impressing an electric field on a soln. contg. polytetrafluoroethylene or its deriv. and immersing a base on which a magnetic layer is provided into the soln. thereby forming a lubricating layer by electrodeposition on the base. CONSTITUTION:After a thin ferromagnetic metallic film is formed on a base by a vacuum deposition or ion plating method, etc., the base is passed through the inside of a soln. 4 contg. polytetrafluoroethylene or its deriv. from a feed roller 2 by guide rollers 6, 7 in a vessel 3 contg. said soln. 4. While the thin film is taken up with a take-up roller 5, a DC voltage (about 20-40V) is impressed on the soln. 4 in a way that the roller 5 is made positive. The polytetrafluoroethylene or its deriv. is thus electrodeposited on the base 1 and the lubricating layer having good crystal orientation is obtd. The magnetic recording medium having excellent wear resistance is thus obtd. |
