PURPOSE:To remove the melt-sprayed Al film from the steel melt sprayed with Al with good efficiency and at the same time to perform surface preparation of the steel plate by irradiating a laser beam to the part of said steel where the melt-sprayed film is to be removed and blowing an inert gas to the part irradiated with laser beam during the irradiation. CONSTITUTION:The laser beam 9 from a laser working head 4 is irradiated to the part (shaded part) 2 where the melt-sprayed Al film is to be removed of two steel plates 1, 1 which are melt-sprayed with Al and are attached by tack welding 3. Inert gas 10 such as N2 is blown to said part from the rear thereof. The melt-sprayed Al film in the part 2 is thus removed. The removal of the melt- sprayed Al film and surface preparation in the part 2 are accomplished simultaneously according to such method and therefore the treating speed is increased; moreover, the shot blasting operation in the surface preparation is not required and therefore the working environment is improved.
