FIELD: animal breeding; chemistry.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to antimicrobial compositions suitable for feed processing. antimicrobial composition comprises 50-90 wt% of one or a mixture of organic acids, C-Cbased on total weight, 5-30 wt% 2-pentenal, trans-2-hexenal or a mixture thereof, based on total weight, and water. Composition may further comprise, based on total weight, 0.5-7 wt% terpenes, 0.5-10 wt% surfactant. Organic acid can be selected from a group comprising acetic acid, butyric acid, propionic acid, lactic acid, pelargonic acid and mixtures thereof. Surfactant may be a surfactant based on ethoxylated castor oil with a hydrophilic-lipophilic balance of 4 to 18. Terpene can be selected from a group consisting of allyldisulphide, citral, pinene, nerol, geraniol, carvacrol, eugenol, carvone, anethol, camphor, menthol, limonene, farnesol, carotene, thymol, borneol, myrcene, terpenes, linalool and mixtures thereof. Animal feed processing method comprises mixing feed with an effective amount of an antimicrobial composition comprising: 50-90 wt% of one or a mixture of organic acids, C-Cbased on total weight, 5-30 wt% 2-pentenal, trans-2-hexenal or a mixture thereof, based on total weight, and water.EFFECT: antimicrobial composition when processing feed provides superior preservative effect, and is effective against bacteria and fungi which cause spoilage.18 cl, 11 tbl, 7 ex |
