PURPOSE:To reduce the size of an image reader wherein the set position of an image pickup means is adjustable and to improve the precision of adjustment by providing a supporting means between the image pickup means and an adjusting means. CONSTITUTION:The rear-side principal point 49 of a lens 20 is set near the center line connecting rotating shafts 43 and 44 fixed to the read substrates 55 of a read unit, and a fixed plate 42 is made turnably around the rotating shafts 43 and 44. Consequently, the photodetection part of a photodetecting element 21 is allowed to rotate around the rear-side principal point 49 of the lens 20. The distance L between an adjusting screw 46 and the rotating shaft 43 is made larger than the distance l between the photo-detecting element 21 and rotating shaft to make a fine adjustment, and an energizing spring 47 is arranged. Thus, a vertical adjustment is made. |
