PURPOSE:To reduce the weight of a compression joint mechanism and facilitate the handling and the jointing operation and reduce the operating man-hour by a method wherein the compression joint mechanism and a main mechanism are composed individually and connected to each other by cables and an oil pressure pipe. CONSTITUTION:Conductors 12a, 12b to be jointed are clamped, i.e. held, by electrodes 15, 15 of a compression joint mechanism 17 with the operation of a clamp cylinder 13. The conductors 12a, 12b to be jointed are clamped by the electrodes 15 after their insulation coverings are stripped off. The conductors 12a, 12b to be jointed are butted and compressed by the compression operation of a compression cylinder 16 to the axial direction, i.e. the direction of arrows 26a, 26b. A current is applied by a transformer 19 through cables 22, 25 in accordance with the instruction from a control board 21 so that the compressed part 12c between the electrodes 15, 15 is welded by the current. As the compression joint mechanism 17 is light, it can be moved easily and the compression joint of the conductors can be performed easily by one operator. |
