PURPOSE:To produce the titled catalyst having superior oxidation stability by depositing Pt cluster-anion complex salt, Re compd., and halogen on an inorg. porous carrier, and thermally decomposing and/or reducing the Pt cluster-anion complex salt. CONSTITUTION:0.01-5wt% Pt cluster-anion complex salt (expressed in terms of Pt metal), 0.01-5wt% Re compd. (expressed in terms of Re metal), and 0.2- 5wt% halogen, are deposited on an inorg. porous carrier such as alumina, and the Pt cluster-anion complex salt is thermally decomposed and/or reduced. The obtd. catalyst has superior activity, selectivity for forming aromatics, and stability, and the superior stability is maintained still after treating a raw material contg. several thousands ppm S. The catalyst has moreover, superior oxidation stability and remarkably enhanced performance for reforming reaction of naphtha.
