PURPOSE:In copolymerizing alpha-olefins, to obtain a copolymer having improved random properties, showing improved physical properties, carrying out the copolymerization in the presence of a catalytic composition consisting of a titanium halide compound and an organo-magnesium compound. CONSTITUTION:In copolymerizing two or more alpha-olefins (including ethylene) or two or more alpha-olefins (including ethylene) and a diene, the copolymerization is carried out in the presence of a catalytic composition consisting of (A) a titanium halide compound (e.g., titanium tetrachloride, etc.) shown by the formula TiX4 (X is halogen) and (B) an organomagnesium compound (e.g., di-normal-butyl magnesium, etc.) shown by the formula MgR1R2 (R1 and R2 are alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or alkoxY). A molar ratio of the catalytic component B/A is preferably 0.5-20.
