Water-based, disperse compositions with the ability to form permanent films are described. Said compositions contain an inner phase of at least one filming, oleaginous material that does not contain asphalt and an outer phase containing a water-based sludge thickened with clay and containing flocculating medium. Typical filming material is obtained through reaction between a carboxylic acid and an overbased salt of an organic acid, especially such that has been converted to non-Newtonian colloidal disperse systems, such as a gel of sulfonate of an alkaline earth metal. Typical clays are montmorillonite clays and the composition in its entirety is usually thyxotropic. These compositions can be used, for example, as surface coatings that prevent corrosion of metal surfaces. |
