PURPOSE:To prevent generation of a flaw and wrinkle of a billet in a continuous casting mechanism forming a mold part of stationary side plates and movable belt bodies by providing many gas ejecting holes and quick cooling zones to the stationary side plates and interposing gas between the same and a solidified shell. CONSTITUTION:The molten metal charged from a tundish 6 are solidified to a shell in a mold constituted of the movable belt-bodies 8, 9 of water-cooled static pressure bearing devices 18, 19 and water-cooled stationary side plates 34, 35 and the shell is drawn out successively. Many ejecting holes 56 for inert gas are disposed to the upper part of the plates 34, 35 to interpose gas between the plates and solidified shell 64 and to eliminate breakdown and intrusion. The thickness is grown by stationary side plates 59 for quick cooling in the lower part. Since there is no breakage, etc. of the shell, a flaw, wrinkle, etc. are not generated on the side faces of a billet 32, and the surface quality of the billet 32 is improved. |
