PURPOSE:To obtain easily a dot multiplex liquid crystal cell having a high display uniformity by cutting wired electrodes on glass substrates with laser light. CONSTITUTION:An upper glass substrate 1 has a display electrode 7, and a lower glass substrate 2 has scanning electrodes 4 and 4'. Substrates 1 and 2 are positioned with proper precision and are adhered to each other with an adhesive. A part 8 of the electrode 7 is cut in a range of a gap (b) of the substrate 2 by laser light to separate the display electrode 7 into display electrodes 3 and 3' on the substrate 1. An Nd-Y,A,G laser having 1.06mum wavelength is used as the laser light for the purpose of transmitting the light through the substrate and absorbing the energy effectively in the display electrode 7. A krypton arc lamp is used as a lamp, and the beam diameter and the output are set to 50mumphi and 1 watt, and the light is irradiated for about 60msec. Though the precision of superposition is rough, the shapes of a display segment 5 and a display segment 6 are just equal to each other, and a gap (a) between electrodes 4 and 4' and the gap (b) between electrodes 5 and 6 are equal to each other as a design drawing. |
