PURPOSE:To attenuate sufficiently crosstalk of a sound FM signal band from adjacent tracks by taking notice of relation between an effective width and an azimuth loss of a rotary head so as to design this effective head width to an optimum value in advance. CONSTITUTION:The effective width W of the rotary head is formed to a value satisfying a relation of the following formula; W=(V/FAFMtan2theta)+T, where V is a relative speed between the rotary head and a magnetic tape, fAFM is a carrier frequency of a sound FM signal, theta is an azimuth angle of the rotary head, and T is a track pitch. A multiplex video signal is recorded and reproduced with azimuth by using two rotary heads obtained in this way. The crosstalk disturbance of the sound FM signal is prevented effectively without adding complicating circuit constitution by setting the effective head width W of the rotary heads to a predetermined value in advance in this way. |
