PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium having high S/N, good runnability, a light shielding layer and low light transmittability by providing a thin metallic film layer, a resin layer and a magnetic layer in this order on a nonmagnetic base. CONSTITUTION:A thin metallic film layer has >=300Angstrom , more preferably 500- 1,000Angstrom thickness. The thin metallic layer is formed on a base by a vapor deposition method or plating method on a base. The base on which the thin metallic film layer is provided is a polyester base, preferably having <=0.05mu average roughness Ra of the centerline. The metallic layer deposited by evaporation is a thin layer of <=1,000Angstrom , on which a resin layer of 0.05-0.4mu is provided and further a magnetic layer is provided to improve stiffness. The resin layer has good adhesion to metal in particular and has preferably the modulus of elasticity lower than the modulus of elasticity lower than the modulus of elasticity of the magnetic layer. The thickness if the resin is preferably 0.05-0.4mu, more particularly preferably 0.1-0.3mu. |
