Provided are an intruder detection method and system using variation of a coherence bandwidth of an acoustic signal in a room. The intruder detection method using variation of a coherence bandwidth of an acoustic signal in a room according to the present invention includes the steps of: transmitting an acoustic signal through an active loudspeaker in the room and receiving the acoustic signal through a microphone positioned a predetermined distance away from the loudspeaker; using the transmitted/received acoustic signal to compute indoor sound channel transmission characteristics depending on whether an intruder exists; computing the coherence bandwidth from the computed indoor acoustic channel transmission characteristics to determine whether the intruder exists; and generating an alarm sound if the intruder exists. |
