The switch contact arrangement includes a roller made of copper of an alloy of copper, mounted in a movable stirrup. The roller is arranged to move over a surface which supports a number of flat contact pads. The surface of the roller has a set of parallel grooves formed in it, and the contact pads have similar grooves. The grooves are arranged so that as the roller moves over the contact pad, the grooves on the meeting surfaces are crossed.
