Arrangement in a fifth wheel coupling between a prime mover (1) and a trailer vehicle (2) such to allow alteration of the distance between the prime mover (1) and the trailer vehicle (2) in horizontal turning movements of the trailer vehicle (2) relative the prime mover (1). Known solutions of this kind have utilized pins and/or rollers which, in horizontal turning movements of the vehicle combination, compulsorily move in slots of relatively complicated configuration and with long extension. With the object of providing a simple solution including cheap and easily fabricated parts, the present invention is distinguished in that two arcuate segments (28, 29) provided with radially outwardly directed teeth are rotatably mounted about the central axis (12) of the fifth wheel (4, 7), said teeth meshing with those of two racks (13) rigidly connected to the frame (5) of the prime mover, one on either side of two stringers (17, 18) of the frame (5), said segments (27, 28) being able to roll along said racks (13) for turning movements, and in that in the fifth wheel unit (7) there is included a detent means (30) which, in response to guide means (41, 42, 50), can lock the segments (27, 28) against rotation relative the fifth wheel (4). |
