Method consisting in placing two moulded strips, of the same length and carrying a profile to be protected at at least one of their ends, moulded face against moulded face. The concave parts of one corresponding to the convex parts of the other such that the fitting surfaces are facing outwards, the ends to be protected are surrounded with a cover protruding beyond the end of the strip and the said cover is fixed onto at least one strip. The device is constituted by a cover characterised in that it is formed from a rigid sleeve 4 of approximately parallelepipedal shape and whose dimensions correspond to the largest dimensions of a section of strip, and means 10 of fixing onto the fitting surface 3 of the moulding. <IMAGE>
