A 3/2 flow valve has an electromagnetic solenoid actuator to provide an operating characteristic with controlled hysteresis. The system fro a load dependent braking regulator has the actuator cylinder (10) supplied from a valve (11) which is connected to a hydraulic supply (12). The valve is controlled by the solenoid valve (13) output pressure (P2). The input pressure of the valve is generated by a foot operated brake pedal (14) and is also monitored by the sensor (16). The generated current is fed to a control stage (17) that also receives an input from a load sensor (18). An excitation signal is generated to control the solenoid to achieve the hysteresis operating characteristic.
