PURPOSE:To obtain an electromagnetic clutch which may gently operate and has a long service life, by providing such an arrangement that the transmission of large torque is controlled by a low pulse-like electrical input, and the transmission of a rotating angle or moving distance is controlled in accordance with the number of delivered electrical pulses. CONSTITUTION:A gear 4b rotates by 120 deg. each time an electrical pulse is delivered to a solenoid 20, and therefore, an associated load 1 may be stepped up. An eccentric rotary ring 4c has projecting parts the number of which may be changed whenever it is necessary although they are now three in number. By increasing the number of the projecting parts, the stepping of the load 1 may be made fine. Such an electromagnetic clutch is obtained that during energization of the solenoid 10 the load 1 is driven, but upon deenergization of the solenoid 20 the load 1 is stopped. With this arrangement, the rotation and translation of the load 1 may be carried out in accordance with the number of delivered electrical pulses, and therefore, the electromagnetic clutch which may be digitally controlled by a computer is obtained. Further, the operation of the electromagnetic clutch generates no mechanical sound, and the cluch has no wearable part. |
