PURPOSE:To obtain an easily visible oscilloscope by constituting the whole system so that a ratio of a period in which a waveform memory is used for write is always held at a prescribed small value or below. CONSTITUTION:A display is made easily visible by always holding a ratio of a write time at a value of a prescribed small value or below. When frequency of an input signal IN is high, frequency of a write clock Q3 also becomes high, therefore, a period of t1 becomes such as <=1ms. In such a case, for instance, when a pulse width t2 of a timer 8 is set to about 100ms, write is inhibited during the following 100ms. That is a point in which a trigger occurs next to the input signal IN ought to be t10, but the trigger is delayed to t11. According to this system, a ratio of the write time becomes >=1%, and a sufficiently good picture is obtained.
