摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve device capable of enhancing engine performance, for example, improving fuel consumption by using a valve stopping mechanism for suppressing variations in the lift amounts of engine valves in cylinders during stoping single valves.SOLUTION: When first and second rocking cams 7a and 7b provided on a cam shaft 7c are caused to rock via a transmission mechanism 8 with the rotation of a driving cam 5a, first and second intake valves 3a and 3b are put into opening/closing operation by swing arms 6, respectively. The first rocking cam 7a is provided at one end in the axial direction of the cam shaft for directly receiving rocking force and the second rocking cam 7b is provided at the other end. On the side of a first swing arm to be operated by the first rocking cam, a valve stopping mechanism 11 is provided for stopping the opening/closing operation of the first intake valve. In an engine low-revolution region, the operation of the first intake valve is stopped by the valve stopping mechanism while the second intake valve is put into the opening/closing operation.
