PURPOSE:To inexpensively and simply impart two color tones to a complicated metal surface, by performing partial etching to a metal surface while forming a titanium nitride film only to the etched part. CONSTITUTION:A masking pattern 2 is formed to the upper surface of a Stellite clock case 1 by using heat resistant ink and, after perfect drying, a gold film 3 is applied to the entire surface of said clock case 1 by ion plating treatment. Subsequently, the masking pattern 2 is peeled off and the gold film 3 deposited thereon is simultaneously removed to expose the Stellite surface 4. This exposed part is etched to form an etching pattern 5 having a necessary depth while the etched part is washed and dried. A titanium nitride film 6 is further formed to the entire surface of the clock case 1 by ion plating treatment and, thereafter, the gold film 3 is peeled off to remove the titanium nitride film 6 other than the titanium nitride film 6 on the etching pattern 5 and the white Stellite surface 4 is exposed to form two color tones along with the titanium nitride film 6 having a golden color. |
