Apparatus and process for the comminution of plant material

The invention relates to an apparatus and to a process for the comminution of plant material, especially of moist plant material, for example, for the production of corncob mix. The apparatus comprises a housing and a rotor mounted rotationally movably therein and provided with a drive and is characterised in that the apparatus is a cutting appliance equipped with moved and stationary cutters cooperating with one another, the moved cutters being inclined rearwards in the direction of movement of the rotor. The cutters are mouldings produced from sheet steel, preferably by stamping out, and have a thickness of 0.3 to 3 mm, preferably from 0.5 to 1 mm. Comminution takes place in that the plant material is accelerated non-uniformly and pre-comminuted between a plurality of inner high-speed cutting edges moving in a circular path and is finish-comminuted by a plurality of outer stationary cutting edges.
