The invention relates to a gas turbine unit with re-heating, which comprises a low-pressure gas turbine, a high-pressure gas turbine, an electrical generator and where necessary an intermediate gear, which are mechanically connected to one another. At the same time, both the low-pressure gas turbine and the high-pressure gas turbine are designed as a single housing construction and each contains the compressor and the actual turbine. In each case two existing designs of this single housing construction are to be selected and technically modified so that it will be possible in the short term to arrive at the proposed gas turbine unit with re-heating. The re-heating brings a considerable increase in thermal efficiency. Given the currently admissible gas turbine inlet temperatures of 1100 - 1200 DEG C, efficiency levels of more than 50 per cent are achievable, especially if the proposed gas turbine unit is used in a combined gas turbine/steam turbine installation. <IMAGE>
