<p>A saw buck (1) used as a support for elongated objects (4) to be shortened, particularly logs, is provided with a V-shaped notch (3). A first support (2) is provided to support the log (4) as well as a second support (5) provided with a supporting element (6-9) extending in the direction of the first support. The distance between both supports (2, 5) is selected so that the upper part of an end of the log (4) to be shortened is caused to bear, due to its weight, by a lever effect on the supporting element. A plurality of supporting elements (6-9) may be provided on the second support (5), the successive elements being located at a distance which is shorter and shorter with respect to the first support (2). </p> |
