In a process for laying a pipe run comprising individual heat-insulated pipes, in particular a district-heating pipeline in the earth, the inner pipe is expanded by heating and is fixed in the expanded state. At least at one point of the pipeline run, preferably at a number of points, a pipe piece is welded onto the ends of two neighbouring inner pipes before heating the inner pipe. Said pipe piece absorbs the expansion during heating, owing to the telescopic configuration. After reaching the prestressing temperature, the prestressing or the expansion is fixed by welding the telescopic configuration.
