A data input device for a numerical control apparatus enables the input of data in the form of an equation. An equation input through a key input means (KB) is stored in a temporary input buffer (BUF). When a calculation command is input from the key input means (KB), an equation calculation means (ART) operates on the equation stored in the temporary input buffer (BUF) and then stores the result in the temporary input buffer (BUF), replacing the original equation with the result of the calculation. The result of the calculation is stored in a predetermined memory area in a data storage memory means (MEM) by a data input processing means (DIN) when an input command is input from the key input means (KB) after the calculation command.
