PURPOSE:To make the engine compact by achieving the engine cooling by the latent heat of boiling vaporization of coolant filling most of the water jacket, and introducing the vaporized coolant to a condenser placed lower than the upper part of the water jacket. CONSTITUTION:An engine 1 is disposed with a forward inclination, and its water jacket 9 is filled by liquid coolant and is submerged under the liquid surface 2. The coolant which is boiled to become vapor by taking the latent heat at a combustion chamber and a cylinder wall is gathered in a larger space 11 above the liquid surface 2, and is introduced into a condenser 6 through an outlet 3 in the upper right having an air separation capability and a passage 10. The condenser 6 has its inlet positioned lower than the liquid surface 2, and is placed, for example, between the upper and lower parts of the water jacket 9. The condenser inlet is inclined by approximately 30 deg. from horizontal so that it may be located above the lower tank 5.
