A hammer drill, with a pneumatically actuated percussion body which is accommodated in a hollow-cylindrical drive piston which is provided with ventilation openings for the percussion control and can be set in a reciprocating motion via a wobble body arranged on the layshaft and in which the percussion function can be stopped, is to be simplified with regard to the means required for the percussion cut-off and is to be made controllable in respect of its percussion intensity. For this purpose it is proposed to provide the drive piston with at least one idling opening and to allocate a correspondence opening made in the cylinder sleeve to this opening, which correspondence opening can alternatively be cleared or closed by means of an adjusting device which can be actuated from outside (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
