An apparatus is proposed which serves to machine round timber, in particular to peel timber. In machines of this type it is necessary for the feed to be set according to the thickness of the round timber to be machined. Provided for this is a measuring device which acts directly on the setting angle of the transport sprocket wheel undertaking the feed.
