PURPOSE:To reduce the power loss of the cooling fan on a forced cooling device by a method wherein the difference between the temperatures at the entrance part and the outlet part of the air duct wherein a semiconductor device will be housed is detected, and the air flow rate for the air duct is controlled based on the above data. CONSTITUTION:The semiconductor device 1 whereon a cooling member 2 is attached around it is placed in an air duct 8, and the device 1 is cooled by forcibly generating an air stream using a fan 7 provided at one end of the air duct. According to this constitution, a temperature difference detector 5 is connected between the air duct entrance part 3 located on the upper air stream and the air duct outlet part 3' located on the lower air stream, and a temperature detector 4 which will be exclusively used to detect the temperature at the entrance part 3 is connected to the entrance part 3. The cooling device is constituted as above, the number of revolutions of the fan 7 is controlled by an air flow rate controlling and commanding device 6 based on the detected output of said devices 4 and 5, and the necessary quantity of air is supplied to the air duct, thereby enabling to reduce both power consumption and noise. |
