Such a sports shoe is to be suitable for many types of sport, to always fit securely with good slip and be possible to put on and take off without having to tie or undo laces. To this end, there is situated in the shaft an elastic gusset tongue which interconnects elastically the left and right upper side parts, and lies above a foot which has been slipped into the shoe. Also provided are left and right ankle straps which extend between the heel/ankle region and the fastening points of the elastic gusset tongue with the left and right upper side parts. The ankle straps serve to transmit the elastic tension from the elastic gusset, after a foot has been slipped into the shoe, to the heel region of the wearer. As a result, the shoe is permanently held securely with a good fit on the foot. The left and right upper side parts also have mutually opposite eyes, through which an elastic band is guided and which supports tension from the elastic gusset. As a result, the shoe also has a visual effect like a laced shoe. Lastly, lying below the elastic gusset tongue, there is also a cushioned shoe tongue, through which the not inconsiderable tension from the elastic gusset together with the elastic band acts only in a cushioned manner on the foot of the wearer.
