Machine for machining furniture parts

The subject-matter of the application relates to a machine for machining, in particular drilling, furniture parts and for inserting fittings therein. It has at least one machining station over which at least one tool carrier can be traversed in a reciprocating manner. Several machining units or groups of machining units are arranged one behind the other on the tool carrier in the traverse direction, and the tool carrier and these machining units or groups of machining units are program-controlled in such a way that at least one furniture part is machined at the machining station during the forward motion and/or return motion of the tool carrier. In such a machine the traverse movements of the individual machining units or groups of machining units are to be separated from one another so that the units or groups of units approach the positions intended for them along the furniture part independently of one another and are each controlled independently with regard to the operation to be performed by them, whereby the machining time per furniture part can be minimised. To this end, the tool carrier is subdivided into at least two individual slide rests which can be traversed and controlled independently of one another over the machining station. A machining unit or a group of machining units is arranged on each slide rest.
