To improve stability while achieving a relatively large clamping stroke, the clamping wedge for securing tools in forming machines, the clamping stroke of which is produced by elastic deformation of the walls of a hollow body due to the increasing of the pressure of a pressure medium enclosed in the hollow body, has at least one thin-walled clamping diaphragm, to which are assigned one or more supporting diaphragms. While the clamping diaphragm seals off the pressure space hermetically at its edges, the supporting diaphragms are preferably clamped in a displaceable manner.
