Process for assembling a glued board and a cover sheet using an assembly device with assembly table and transfer carriage having a plurality of support bars. The glued board is laid on the support bars, the transfer carriage with the support bars is moved over the assembly table and then returned. The glued board is stripped off the support bars upon return and the cover sheet is placed on a cover layer deck disposed above the support bars; it is then pressed onto the glued board with an edge strip overhanging or pulled out in the travel direction of the transfer carriage, so that the cover sheet joined by the edge strips to the glued board is pulled off the cover layer deck with the return of the transfer carriage and the stripping off of the glued board and placed on the glued board. <IMAGE>
