The present invention relates to new organic and inorganic rubber-to-metal adhesion promoting compositions an their use. The compositions comprise metal salts, such as salts of cobalt or nickel, applied to a powdered, adsorbing carrier, such as a zeolite or a silica. Preferred organic adhesion-promoting compositions comprise metal carboxylates having from 1 to 22 carbon atoms. Especially suitable inorganic compositions are obtained by heating metal metaborate/silica blends and/or metal orthoborate/silica blends resulting in metal polyborosilicates. The present compositions display very good adhesion properties, hardly or do not affect rubber properties and effectively inhibit corrosion of the metal elements in the rubber. |
