PURPOSE:To avoid decrease in the strength of a porous core member resulting from its extension and to increase the packing density of an active material layer by improving a roller pressing method used in making a pasted nonsintered electrode. CONSTITUTION:After an active material mixture is fixed to a conductive core member, the thus obtained body is firstly pressed perpendicularly to the surface of an electrode, or in the thickness direction of the electrode, in such a manner as to cause almost no extension in the width direction of the core member although only insufficient pressing effect is achieved. After that, roller pressing is performed in which extension in the width direction is caused although sufficient pressing effect is achieved. As a result, pressing is performed effectively while minimizing the extension of the core member, thereby obtaining a nonsintered electrode having a high packing density. Here, when an expanded metal or net is used as the core member, a roller having concaves and convexes can be used effectively because significant extension results from the roller pressing. |
