A liquid metal cooled nuclear reactor of the kind in which the reactor core is disposed in a pool of liquid metal contained in the inner vessel of a double-walled steel tank supported in a vault (1) having a roof (4), has the roof (4) supported by a conical support skirt (14) carried by the wall of the vault (1 ), a single annular weld (15) securing a main roof member (16) to the skirt, and the conical skirt (14) including a forked part (19) providing inner (20) and outer (21, 22) annular skirt portions from which the inner (9) and outer (10) vessels of the tank are carried respectively.
